Section II: The purpose of this organization will be to promote a more thorough knowledge of classical life, history and literature, to impart a better understanding of the practical and cultural value of the Classics, to interest other students in the classical languages and literature, government, laws and arts, and as members of the organization, to pattern our citizenship, in respect to family, school, and nation after the best examples of classical civilization. This club also takes upon itself the task of showing its members the proper use of an orange. Section III: There will be a Sponsor, who will oversee all club activities. This Sponsor will be employed by Leon County Schools and serve as Lincoln High School’s resident Latin teacher.
Article 2: Membership
Section I: Any students attending Lincoln High School may join the Lincoln Latin Club and attend club hosted events (i.e. parties and meetings). Section II: Any member of the Lincoln Latin Club not enrolled in a Latin class will not be allowed to attend or compete at the FJCL State Latin Forum. It will be at the discretion of the Sponsor whether a student is allowed to attend the Regional Forum or the National Convention.
Section III: Members who are not enrolled in a Latin class for the upcoming school year will not be allowed to run for any officer position within the Lincoln Latin Club, unless there is a state of emergency in which there are no other candidates running for the position.
Article 3: Officers

N.B: Names set off in parentheses are the English equivalents of the offices.
Section II: The term of office for each officer will last for a period of one year. Their duties begin once they have been inducted and end once the succeeding officer has been sworn into the position. There is no defined term limit for a given office provided that the candidate is in good standing with the Lincoln Latin Club and is in compliance with the requirements of office.

To be eligible to run for either Consul or Praetor, the student must be at least a sophomore at the time of election, and must be enrolled in Latin II to ensure dedication of the candidate.
Section IV: The Sponsor has the right to remove any officer from their office and nominate a successor in the event that the officer in question has neglected their duties and has been deemed unfit to serve. The successor must be voted in by the Lincoln Latin Club.

Additionally, the Consul will work closely with the Sponsor to manage the affairs of the Lincoln Latin Club. They will represent the Lincoln Latin Club at interschool meetings and JCL events. They will relay information to their Latin I classes and will report back any outstanding issues of the Latin I cohort. They will submit an application to the Sponsor at the beginning of the school year and will be appointed by vote of the officers of the Lincoln Latin Club.
Article 5: Ratification and Amendments Section I: The constitution must be ratified by a 2/3 majority vote by club members.
Section II: The constitution will be ratified one section at a time until the whole article is ratified. After all articles have been voted on, members will ratify the constitution as a whole.
